What to do after an accident.

1. Stop and make the scene safer

Stop, switch off the engine and use your hazard lights. Move people to a safe place away from traffic if it is safe to do so. Follow emergency services’ instructions.

2. Record the essentials

When safe, exchange names, addresses and vehicle registration details. Take photographs and note witnesses’ contact details. If you did not exchange details at the time, report the accident to the police within 24 hours.

3. Arrange help and tell your insurer

Contact Volvo Accident Assistance to discuss the next step. You must also tell your insurer about the accident, even if you do not intend to claim.

Volvo Accident Assistance is a support service, not an insurance policy. It can help organise an appropriate repair route and explain the claims process. Ask the team to confirm what applies to your circumstances before agreeing to arrangements.

Assistance support is free, but repair bills are not automatically free. Payment depends on the circumstances and insurance cover; an excess or other charges may apply. Complimentary recovery is for an unroadworthy vehicle, and cancellation charges may be payable. Replacement transport is subject to eligibility and availability. Misfuelling and standalone glass damage have separate exclusions; read the current terms.

Before we propose you to a potential lender, we will inform you of the likely amount of commission we will receive and seek your consent to receive this commission. The exact amount of commission that we will receive will be confirmed prior to you signing your finance agreement.
