Perth car retailer secures national Volvo award
A Perth car retailer is celebrating after achieving a prestigious accolade in a national awards ceremony.
The team at Camerons Volvo Perth, on Arran Road, was awarded the prestigious ‘Learning & Development Team of the Year’ accolade at this year’s Volvo Car UK’s Retailer of the Year Awards after being the first to achieve 100% compliance across Volvo retailers in the UK.
The highly coveted Volvo Retailer of the Year Awards saw ten retailer groups from across the country recognised as the best in their area. Retailers were chosen by consistently exceeding market opportunities and surpassing a range of consumer-focused targets during the course of the year.
The ceremony was held on Saturday 28 February at the Park Hyatt London River Thames Hotel, hosted by Volvo Car UK Ambassador and proud XC90 faithful, Claudia Winkleman.
The team was praised for ensuring all employers at the retailer, regardless of their job role, benefit from tailored training sessions designed to help improve and progress their careers.
The team was also praised for being dedicated to delivering continually high standards for the Volvo brand across the United Kingdom thanks to their focus on customer service and satisfaction.

Perth car retailer celebrates 70 years of
the seatbelt saving lives
A Perth car retailer is celebrating 70 years since the introduction of the seat belt.
Camerons Volvo Perth on Arran Road, an official Volvo retailer, is marking 70 years of Volvo’s pioneering seatbelt technology with special showroom sessions featuring safety talks and customer test drives.
The celebration highlights Volvo’s long-standing leadership in vehicle safety, dating back to the introduction of the modern three-point seatbelt developed by Volvo engineer, Nils Bohlin, in 1959.
The design, first introduced on models such as the Volvo Amazon, went on to become the global standard for automotive safety and has helped saved millions of lives worldwide.
During the sessions at Camerons Volvo Perth, guests will be able to learn more about Volvo’s safety heritage and the move towards electrification through expert talks from the retailer’s team, as well as experience the latest generation of Volvo technology first-hand with test drives of the newest models.
The milestone comes as Camerons Volvo Perth prepares to celebrate Volvo’s centenary in 2027, marking 100 years of the Volvo brand in the UK – and the introduction of Volvo’s newly launched mid-size SUV, the EX60, which is due in showrooms later this year.
The EX60 will feature the world’s first multi-adaptive safety belt. The belt uses real-time data input from advanced interior and exterior sensors to customise protection, adapting to the situation and individual occupant, taking into account their height, weight, seating position and crash type.
As Volvo Cars gathers more insights, the car can improve its understanding of the occupants, new scenarios and response strategies - and thanks to over-the-air software updates, this can be applied to the car so the technology will continuously improve over time.
Kerr Elliott, Retailer Principal at Camerons Volvo Perth, said: “At Camerons Volvo Perth, we are proud to be at the forefront of safety evolution and innovation and to celebrate Volvo’s historic milestone with our customers and community.
“Volvo has always been synonymous with safety, and our showroom sessions are a great opportunity for people to learn more about that heritage while experiencing the latest Volvo models themselves firsthand.
“We look forward to welcoming local drivers to join our celebrations.”

Exhaust-ed of your current car? Here are our top tips on spring cleaning your car before you sell
With brighter days approaching, many local drivers are considering upgrading their vehicle. If you’re thinking about selling or part exchanging your current car, a thorough spring clean is one of the simplest and most effective ways to maximise your car’s resale value.
Here at Camerons Volvo Perth, your local authorised Volvo retailer, the team regularly sees how presentation can significantly influence buyer interest and part exchange valuations.
Our Retailer Principal at Camerons Volvo Perth, Kerr Elliott, explains:
“Spring is one of the busiest times of year for people changing their cars. After winter, vehicles often show signs of heavier use – from interior wear to road salt affecting paintwork. There is a stark difference in both buyer interest and part exchange car valuations when a car has been properly prepared, even when mileage and age are the same.”
If you’re preparing to sell your car in Perth, follow our expert car cleaning tips to help secure the best possible price.
1. Declutter your car completely before selling
First impressions matter. Remove all personal belongings, including:
A clean, neutral space allows potential car buyers to picture themselves behind the wheel. Whether you’re selling privately or arranging a part exchange at Camerons Volvo Perth, a clutter-free cabin makes your vehicle feel well cared for.
2. Deep clean your car’s interior for maximum resale value
A spotless interior signals proper maintenance and pride of ownership.
A fresh, tidy cabin can immediately boost perceived value and make your vehicle more appealing both online and in person.
3. Refresh your car seats and upholstery
Stains, marks and odours can lower a car’s value and are often the first things buyers pick up on.
Restoring your upholstery helps recreate that sought-after “nearly new” feel buyers love.
4. Restore your car’s exterior shine after winter
Winter grime, tar and road salt can dull paintwork and even contribute to corrosion if left untreated.
Clean, gleaming paintwork will significantly enhance your car’s appearance in photos — essential if you’re advertising online, and will create a stronger first impression during an inspection.
5. Don’t overlook the small details
It’s often the finishing touches that influence part exchange valuations. Before bringing your car in for a valuation, consider:
Small, inexpensive fixes can make your car feel properly maintained and ready for its next owner.
Winter driving tips: Five ways to stay safe on Perth roads this winter
Winter driving can be challenging, especially when temperatures drop, daylight hours shorten, and icy roads become more common. Whether you’re commuting around Perth, heading off to see family further afield, or tackling early morning school runs, preparing your car for winter is essential.
To help local drivers stay safe and confident on the road, our team has shared five practical winter car tips that can make all the difference when driving in cold and icy conditions.
1. Plan ahead and carry a winter emergency kit
Planning your journey is always important, but winter weather means being prepared for the unexpected. Snow, ice or breakdowns can happen quickly, so keeping a winter emergency kit in your car is a smart move.
Your winter car kit should include:
Having these essentials to hand can make a big difference if you’re delayed or stranded in cold conditions.
2. Clear windows and mirrors before every journey
Driving with fogged or icy windows is dangerous – and illegal. While scraping ice may feel like a winter chore, there are ways to make it easier.
Parking your car overnight with the windscreen facing east can help, as the morning sun naturally melts frost. Alternatively, using a windscreen cover or full car cover can protect your vehicle from overnight ice and snow, saving time on frosty mornings.
It goes without saying, but always make sure all windows, mirrors and lights are fully clear before setting off.
3. Check your tyres regularly
Your tyres are your only contact with the road, making them especially important in winter driving conditions. The legal minimum tread depth in the UK is 1.6mm, but for winter driving it’s recommended to have at least 3mm of tread to improve grip on wet, icy or slippery roads.
A quick way to check tread depth is the 20p coin test. Insert a 20p coin into the tyres groove – if the outer rim of the coin is still visible, it’s time to replace the tyre.
Also remember that cold weather can reduce tyre pressure, so check inflation levels regularly throughout winter.
4. Check fluids, oil and filters
Cold temperatures put extra strain on your car’s engine and systems, so it’s important to keep fluids topped up and in good condition.
These simple checks help keep your car running smoothly and reliably throughout winter.
5. Take advantage of free windscreen and tyre repairs
Winter weather increases the risk of small windscreen chips turning into large, dangerous cracks due to freezing temperatures. Potholes and poor road conditions can also cause tyre damage.
At Camerons Volvo Perth, Volvo drivers in Perth can benefit from a free windscreen and tyre damage repair service, regardless of the age of their vehicle. A qualified Volvo technician will assess the damage, and in many cases, repairs can be completed quickly and efficiently – at no cost.
Stay Safe on the Road This Winter
By following these winter car tips, you can reduce the risks associated with cold weather driving and enjoy greater peace of mind throughout the season.
